Whenever I am not feeling well, a walk in Nature with my camera makes me feel better. Today, 22nd Sept was one such day. I went for a walk behind the Maritime Institute, Nerul, Navi Mumbai.
On the way, I spotted and clicked Mangoose, Butterflies, Dragonflies and skink but not a single bird till the end of my walk. Towards the end, I saw a bird that looked like a scaly-breasted Munia, but it was not.
It was a colorful bird that I had never seen before. After returning home, I tried to identify the bird on my own, but could not find anything in my books. The next option was to post it in my birding groups where the experts suggested that this could be the Red-cheeked cordon-bleu (female). But Red-cheeked cordon-bleu is a bird found in Africa!!! (Wikipedia). Please check the pictures below and if you think it is possibly Red-cheeked cordon-bleu or if you have any other suggestion, please let me know by commenting at the bottom of the page.

Looks like you are correct with the identification. Maybe it was captive and then released in wild or escaped… just a thought though
