Identification: A crow-sized slender bird with a long tail and is a brood parasite. The Male is jet glossy black with a yellowish green bill and crimson eyes. The female is brown in color and profusely spotted and barred with a white undersurface.
Size: 43 cms.
Habitat: Gardens, groves, open woodlands, scrubs and forest edges. It conceals itself in thick foliage while feeding and is out in the open only for basking in the sun.
Nesting Season: April to August; coinciding with the normal host birds like crows.
Distribution: Widespread resident of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and SriLanka.
