Identification: It’s a small sparrow sized bird with red eyes, slaty grey( Breeding) and rufous brown( Non breeding) mantle and a long black and white tipped tail which it shakes constantly up and down and sometimes carried partially erect. Sexes are alike.
Size: 13 cms.
Habitat: Found in garden shrubs, reeds near streams, moist grasslands and scrub and mangroves.
Nesting season: March to September, mainly after onset of monsoon.
Distribution: Widespread resident in India, though unrecorded in parts of NW India; Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
