Navi Mumbai is a heaven for Birders

Navi Mumbai has water bodies everywhere and almost all of them are rich in variety of birds. Generally, I visit the different place around Nerul. On Sunday, 11th Feb 2018, I had to take my Son for his Olympiad exams to Sanjeevani International School in Sector 18, Kharghar. Opposite to the school, there is open space and Naturally created water bodies. I was lucky that I carried my camera with me and was able to capture the following birds. Encountered a snake for the first time

Date: 25th Sept 2017

For the past 2 days, Meghna (my wife) has been accompanying me when ever I go out for birding. Due to the monsoon, it is green everywhere we go with lot of wild plants and grass on the path that I take. The only thing that she keeps me warning about it to not wear short pants/shorts when I go out for birding and has been talking about snakes and other insects that might pose a danger. Is it Red-cheeked cordon-bleu?

Red-cheeked cordon-bleu

Whenever I am not feeling well, a walk in Nature with my camera makes me feel better. Today, 22nd Sept was one such day. I went for a walk behind the Maritime Institute, Nerul, Navi Mumbai.

On the way, I spotted and clicked Mangoose, Butterflies, Dragonflies and skink but not a single bird till the end of my walk. Towards the end, I saw a bird that looked like a scaly-breasted Munia, but it was not. Continue reading “Is it Red-cheeked cordon-bleu?”
